The reason for building this Memorial Hall is that the East India Company faced a huge set back during the Sepoy Mutiny and they were spared from the trouble of uprising in the Madras Presidency, for the good behaviour of the Chennai People this hall was built. Architecture Greek style, architects by Captain George Winscom & Colonel Horseley.
