This building was once the headquarters of Madras Presidency Operations of RBI and Imperial Bank (later to be known as SBI). The land for this building was bought for Rs 1.00 lakh from the Madras Government in 1895.

Triumphant Labour Statue - Marina Beach

On 25th January 1959, the statue of “Triumph of Labour”  made by  the Sculptor Mr.Devi Prasad Roy Chowdri was declared open by Honble.Governor of Tamilnadu Shri.Bishnuram Medhi in the presence of Mr.K.Kamarajar, the Honble.Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. The Triumph Labour Statue depicts an inspiring posture of a team of labourers engrossed at an difficult work. The monument is symbolic of the human spirit that triumphs over adversities with united labour. The ‘Labour Statue was the first statue erected in Marina Beach. This is a labor statue, dedicated to the various laborers who work hard to build every nation.

The Victoria Public Hall, which is also called as 'Town Hall', is one of the important heritage buildings of Chennai city which belongs to British period.
